This shoot inspiration came from an unlikely place--my grandparent's Carrara cutting board. I was chopping vegetables one evening and a peculiar thought occurred to me. This gorgeous marble cutting board, was so like their marriage. It had some scratches and imperfections, but it stood the test of time--never diminishing in strength or beauty.

I get really sentimental when I see some of the family heir looms that now reside in my own home. They remind me of the people, the love they shared, the lives they built with one another. This cutting board, in particular, belonged to my grandparents who were married for over 60 years. When my grandfather passed away last year after battling cancer, he did so clinging to the hand of his bride. As they stared into one another's eyes and he took his last breath, I saw the greatest demonstration of love in it's truest form.

This shoot is so near and dear to my heart because of what marble now represents to me. It is the mingling of beauty and strength--the very components that make up life-long romances. And, as I watched our two models (the very newly married Justin and Amy Francis), stare into one another's eyes with love and adoration, I couldn't help but think of my grandpa (PoPo) and grandma in their youth, dreaming about what life would hold and the adventures they'd have.

These images are dedicated to the lovers that hold on to the beauty of love in the midst of strife. May the legacy of your love be passed down from generation to generation.
